This is, as with V1 and V2 is an artistic rendering of a young lady receiving answers. She’s on her knees, as if she were praying when out of the blue sky comes maybe the answer to her request. There is a slight disconnection of her hands and face from her body. Perhaps the blue bird coming to her open arms offers resolution.
The rays that flow behind and beyond her transform into a bird’s feather.
At closer observation you’ll see a yellow flower in her hair and ruffles at the end of her skirt.

The original version was hand drawn back in 2000. It’s even signed with my married name, how gross. I had to edit that out and put my correct name in there. The new version is digitally enhanced but I kept the same shapes including the lop sided border. Click the images to make them larger.

She looks familiar doesn’t she? This is the second version of Lady of Turquoise that I call Second Sister. The major different from the original version is that her skin isn’t turquoise, it’s a mix of gold with wine accents. I kept the original circular texture as well as the other colour scheme. Second Sister has a softer look to her than the other two versions which I happen to prefer. Jeweled Mask is still my favorite painting that I’ve ever done but Second Sister isn’t too bad….not too bad at all.

In the original photograph the little girl slept with her head against and object obscured. I simply flipped the photo and started painting. Her hair isn’t curly but straight. It is also quite dark, with less red than appears here. A special thanks goes out to a good friend who allowed me to do a little artwork with her photo.
