Peaceful Abstract Flower

I needed something soft but I also needed something that grows and glows, Peaceful Abstract Flower gave me both. This isn’t any particular flower, in fact it’s several in one growing harmoniously amongst pastel greens and blues. There is also a tiny touch of purple, orange and yellow to complete a pastel rainbow of hope.

The Friendly Redhead

he’s the first and only of her kind by yours truly. This little redheaded doll is a special gift to a friend. As you can see she’s got long red locks and little freckle spots. Her dress is a flowing apple orchard print with green ruffled trim.

My favorite part are her little ducky boots. When I saw those I absolutely had to buy them.

The second doll you see is what I like to call an oops doll. Oops? Yup, the fabric I used isn’t so forgiving so there’s a slight error on her lips. She still needs more work though before I offer her at a special oops price in my Etsy shop.  I need to work on her eyes some more and add little shoes. The blond doll is sporting a blue jean dress and a blue jean hat with a tiny pink firefly on the hat. Her friend has a small butterfly in her hair to the right side.

These two dolls are from the Charlene Collection. They are both signed and dated on the bum as are all my dolls.

Update:

Both dolls pictured now have homes. Thanks to everyone who inquired. There’s one more coming very soon.

Note: Layaway is available on prints as well as originals and dolls. See my sidebar for contact information.

I accept private requests from individuals for therapy dolls, inner child dolls, child therapy dolls, dolls for adults in psychotherapy as well as play dolls and bears. Please use my sidebar contact address for your special order.

PTSD

PTSD

If it had a face what would it look like? If it were a colour, what colour would it be? Would it be bright or dull, vivid or muted?

Here is a bit about this painting and a little about how Post Traumatic Stress Disorder affects me.

The eyes show me looking out from a chaotic landscape. In the landscape are bright, vivid colours which expresses how raw my nerves are and how sensitive they are to stimulation around me. With Post Traumatic Stress Disorder I see every movement and hear every sound.

One of the most significant parts of this painting is the third eye. One might think of mystical symbolism but the eye is placed as a barrier between me and the person I’m speaking with. That eye “watches” for signs of threat which would then cue me to kick into survival mode and talk my way out of danger. This is something I learned when I needed to learn it but it does not serve me well now. The “third eye” therefore represents hesitation, mistrust and falsified ease.

Last but not least there are several stunted trees and several outlines of eyes growing from flower branches. You will see lighting, flowing rivers, rolling hills and mist all coming together to form the painting “PTSD”.

Currently this painting is only available in my Redbubble shop. Please see my sidebar for the link.
