Joy the Sunflower Girl is different from the dolls I’m use to making. I wanted to try something a tad bit different. Instead of a doll with a more formal look I added an extra large smile and a different type hands and legs.
When I first started making dolls I had such a difficult time getting the head to stand up. It was floppy and all over the place. Since I’m not good with tutorials or patterns I had to figure out on my own how to do this. Below is a short, rough tutorial to assist with your handmade rag doll’s head so it doesn’t flop around.

This updated version of Splash was nearly forgotten in a heap of old art. The first time I tried this painting I didn’t know what face the give the child so I didn’t add one at all. I liked how it turned out but I think this one is much more pleasing and expresses the joy I was going for.
Slash – Chase the Rainbow shows a young redheaded child splashing right through a rainbow with yellow galoshes and big bright orange umbrella. The painting shows pure joy and freedom as a child dances in the rain. Also shown is the sister painting called Raindrops.

A little angel in blue kneels in confidence.

I’m currently working on a small oil on canvas based on the original sketch. It will be kept simple so that nothing overshadows the precious moment of the child.

Title: In My Prayers

There are many moments when I need a security blanket.
I wasn’t feeling terribly sad when I painted these. I wanted to work on facial expressions which explains why the first painting has a slightly different expression than the second.

These mousy bears have been so fun to make. I’ve only got one pillow left to make a few more of these guys. I’m going to miss this fabric. I guess we can say these little guys are limited edition bears. This is the largest one I’ve made. I think I like smaller bears better than larger ones. So anyway, I’m almost sad because the mousy material is coming to a quick close. Maybe one day we’ll run across this material again and another generation of trans-species bears will come across these here Sundrip pages.
