Watch Over Our Children

Watch Over Our ChildrenIt usually doesn’t take me 7 or 8 days to complete one painting but it looks like this one will need even more time. Seven days now but I’m getting closer.

The painting shows a young African-American child walking through a field of sunflowers and wildflowers while being guided by an older Black angel.
Painting Details: The sky and flowing water meet and roll around her skirt into a field of flowers. There are two small butterflies floating above a sunflowers, one single white daisy. The child has small green leaves as trim for her clothing and is holding a tiny little flower.

I believe the final version will make a slight distinction between the sky and water. I may also add a few tiny details to the adult angel but other than that Watch Over Our Children is nearly completed.

Update:

Ah yes, it sometimes takes awhile but the end result is worth it.

Watch Over Our Children (final)

The colors have been changed dramatically as were the flowers but I like this version best.

A sweet smile and big brown eyes were hand painted to make this doll one special creation.

Daisy’s Sister in Sepia

She started off as a pencil sketch then I added digital coloring. The little sister’s face is familiar to  other paintings of mine. She’s also got her little white daisy hanging low as she walks about dust in search of color. Daisy’s sister is half way there.

Details: A young black child, girl, hair ribbons, big brown eyes, soft blue dress, white daisy facing down, sepia background, selective coloring.

A Work In Progress

She’s coming right along. I need give her eye lashes as well as a few nicks and tucks then she’ll be all ready. Her red beret is so sweet.

Lisa and friend by you.

Both dolls were 100% hand stitched and hand painted. Their clothing is from rescued materials.

In An Angel’s Arms

In Angel's Arms

This painting was originally titled “Birth of a Fairy” but as I looked at it longer she reminded me more of an angel than a fairy.

So here we have an African-American angel holding a child with her wings span wide as a shield. Her skirt comes down and paints the earth in vivid colors of blue, green and purple.
