Purity Version Two

Purity V2This painting has given me the blues. The original version of Purity was painted with very saturated earth tones such as burnt orange, amber, chocolate and tan. The flowers are pink and shades of yellow on version one. When viewing it I just wasn’t satisfied. It printed off quite well but it didn’t grab me so back to the drawing board I went.

Here I’ve added several new colours, brightened her skin up a bit, added auburn hair and changed the background from tan to shades of blue. We still have the nude figure with one arm to her side and one arm behind her back and we still have the Faceless Beauty concept. Although I like this version better than Version One this may not be the last we see of Purity. For now she is on Redbubble and can be printed as a greeting card, a poster, a framed print and several other affordable options. Please visit the bubble by clicking the red square on my sidebar.

She Has Arrived - She Has Changed

Sky Blue Dreamer

It has become pretty standard that there will be at least three versions of each painting. I can’t think of a piece on Sundrip that hasn’t been revised in some manner. I see the image and think, if I added colour here, changed the texture there and so on I could get an entirely different effect.

The original version is called Sky Blue Dreamer and she’s part of the Faceless Beauty Collection and is categorized under “faces”. The original is as high textured as Version 2 (Ella ha llegado) and Version 3 (She Has Arrived) where I changed colours, added wings, changed the breadth of her shoulders and the shape of her face.

Ella ha llegado (V2)She Has Arrived (Browns) V3

V2 and V3 have experimental filters. V2 is a combo of mural, fresco and the paint dry brush filter. V3 is chalk opaque over paint dry brush. From V2 to V3 you’ll see different colours in the wings, a difference in skin tone, a golden ray necklace and a hint of green in the background. V3 also has a very light halo behind her head.

One thing leads to another and versions happen. I’ve come to enjoy this evolution.

She Has Arrived

Ella ha llegadoThe painting called “She has arrived” is one where I’m trying out new filter combinations on my art program. After the painting was completed I added three filters, mural, fresco then paint dry brush. I then did the face the patterned paper filter because the other three were too much. She looked like she had leprosy so I needed to change that. (Right click the images to make them larger. When they open in a different window click the image again to make it even larger. All but the first and very last will get even larger when clicked again.)

“She has arrived” shows an angel like figure in front of a strong textured and high colour background.

Don’t be surprised if more filter combos show up.

Sky Blue Dreamer

Sometimes pieces come together easily. This is not one of those pieces. Thank goodness my desk chair is soft or I would have one sore back end. I sat at the desk for what seemed like hours touching and re-touching until finally I had to let it go.

(Detail) I could find 100 flaws in this picture and it would never hit the net. I put it up anyway because of what’s right with it. The point of the picture was to show the wild but beautiful side of life. Her hair is caught in a gust of wind. Her body is twisted in movement. She’s flawed but unmistakably proud.

Faceless Beauty

Is she faceless or do you know of a beauty that shines with dignity and honor and does not depend upon others for a reflection of self?

These two images resemble one another in more ways than one. The main resemblance is that the women look directly forward, towards the viewer allowing the reflection of the viewer’s own beauty. Allow yourself to see the truly beautiful you.

Lady In The Trees

We may have scars from the past, imperfections easily seen by the world or private shames that make us feel ugly inside. We may be short, fat, tall or lean, but what we all have in common is the need for validation, connection and freedom to grow. Images with no discernible features will allow beauty to change with circumstances. But every faceless beauty that appears on Broken Pieces will look forward, directly forward with pride and fearless anticipation of the blessings to come.
