Little Flower Girl

Photobucket

Little Flower Girl - a freckled young girl sits in her flower garden.

PhotobucketA common theme in my paintings is to combine a woman or child with a flower. Little Flower Girl is no different. Her hair is made of leaves and flower petals.

Here you can see the textured background and a close up view of her eyes. I haven’t decided if I want to add color to her eyes and reduce the amount of color on her lips. One thing I noticed about viewing her smaller on the computer is that she looks cockeyed. Hopefully on the image above you’ll be able to see she isn’t. As far as color in her eyes goes I think I’ll leave them alone for now.

Little Flower girl can be found in the Innocence Gallery with other flower children and fairies.

On The Eve of Something Beautiful

The dress of this young woman drapes across her and forms a river where a small sprout comes forth. On the sprout is a cardinal, on the limbs of her hair is another. I’m a lover of texture so there’s a lot of that to see as well. Greens and hues of blue are accented by bursts of orange and small dabs of yellow and red. Her face is half concealed, her arms folded around her holding her inner earth steady above the river.

Eyes Like A River

Eyes Like A River

This is my very first completed oil painting.

A few weeks ago at my favorite hobby and crafts shop I stumbled upon discounted oils. I’d never used oils. I assumed they were hyped up acrylics offering no difference. Boy was I wrong. I was hooked with the very first stroke.

One of the details you can’t see is gold accents above the eyes and on her lips. However, the photo does show the dust on my shelf. Go figure.

This is painted on a 9 x 11 birchwood board 1/4th inch thickness. It is currently unsealed because I don’t know how or even if I should. The paint is dry but I hear you’re supposed to seal the paint. If anyone has suggestions on what product to use I’d be open to hearing it.

For purchase inquiry please contact me via the address on my sidebar or see my Etsy shop. Thank you.

Sunday Afternoon

Sunday Afternoon

On a lazy Sunday afternoon a young girl opens her hands to the wings of a butterfly.

Sunday Afternoon Framed Example on Imagekind

The clothing of this dark skinned, redheaded little girl has the same pattern as the butterfly and the flowers. An added bonus to the painting is the stark white contrast of her scarf which blows in the wind.

Sunday Afternoon is loosely based on my acrylic painting called Blue Green Gold and can be seen in the Innocence Gallery and on Redbubble.
