Snails Three and Ducky

The mama snail I added to my aquarium recently had a few babies. I’ve watched these little tiny lives grow from the size of a pencil eraser to now the size of a dime. They’re so, so sweet.  For those of you who are unaware Little Duck is my nickname, which means the little duck in the picture is me following them around watching them grow.

The original sketch is in my sketchbook and was done in ink and tea stains. The picture published has coloring corrections and a few tiny other details added.

Thanks for visiting Sundrip, it’s much appreciated.

Bella and Birdie

Bella and Birdie Say GoodbyeThis multi-media piece was painted on tissue paper which was then mounted on a canvas sheet. The illustration shows a kitty and her little bird friend saying goodbye as the sun sets on their day.

Crocodile Tears

Crocodile Tears

Don’t despair, it’s hard to potty train. You’ll get the hang of it little buddy, now wipe away the big crocodile tears.

detail of crocodile tear (don't hurt yourself grinning)

Oops, maybe next time he’ll remember to go on the paper.
The pup sits head bowed with a crocodile tear rolling down his slick black face. In the back is a washed out newspaper comic strip often used to help in puppy training. Can you resist this sad puppy face? Don’t you just want to pooch out your lower lip, scoop him up and pat his little head?

Why is the tagged experimental design? The background is one I’ve never done before. I wanted to try something new so I scanned an old newspaper and filled it into the steps that the puppy was originally sitting on. I kinda like how it looks.

Kitten’s Rainbow Ascent

Kitten's Rainbow Ascent

No Longer A Stray

One day she’ll be more than just a stray,
She’ll hang the moon,
Swing from the rainbow
And play marbles with the stars and planets.
One day she’ll pounce and leap,
With a belly full of sweetness she’ll slumber and sleep
No boxes or concrete beneath her but in a bed of her own in a place she calls home.
