Hate To Break Up The Funky Party But

Hate To Break Up The Funky Party But……..

According to CBS News and a host of other sites James Brown wasn’t just the Godfather of Soul he was also a wife beater a drug user and a man who used his influence to get out of trouble. This makes him like other Hollywood wife beaters, not worth my time. Lou Diamond Phillips, Yanni, Bobby Brown, the jackass drummer from Motley Crew as well as a ton of others are wife beaters that won’t get a tear drop from me. Lets not forget my favorite act of revenge against an abusive mate - the girl from the old group TLC burned her basketball star boyfriends mansion down for beating on her. She spent 6 months in jail. I think it was worth it.

Getting back to James “knock her around” Brown CBS News reported his January 2004 arrest for domestic violence. The article said, and I quote- “.. the charges (domestic violence charges - plural) won’t affect the state pardon the singer received in May. The pardon was for a 1988 drug and assault conviction, for which he spent 2½ years in jail, and a second drug-related offense in 1998. Brown was also arrested in 1988 after beating up his third wife, Adrienne.” unquote. He was such a good guy, slick on his feet, soul and groove, putting his mark on music as we know it and on women we only know because they pressed charges.

What I found interesting is that on the SAME page as this article of the superstar Mr. Funky himself was an advertisement about how to get help if you’re in an abusive relationship. That’s either ironic or just plain obvious that CBS sees him like I do, an abuser.

I appreciate some of the things he did but more so I am disgusted by his behavior as a man. You could have been better than that Mr. Brown. You could have set the perfect example of how to be the Godfather of Soul AND the non-violent father and husband. You wasted the perfect opportunity to be a good example and instead gave more humans a reason to lose hope in a violence free, substance free love. I’m disgusted and embarrassed to have known of you.

I guess that people don’t bother to look at the man’s behavior when he’s not on stage, much like people don’t care about the private lives of football players or other sports stars as long as they’re winning. Or celebrities as long as they entertain us. Sad but true.

Just stopped in to wish you a Happy New Year!

I also find it hard to separate someone’s private behaviour from what he may be famous for.
There’s nothing more abject than violence in general (except for self defense or defense for others) and domestic violence is not comprehensible anyway.
Those who beat their wifes or children or abuse them in another way won’t make me shead tears for them.
Mr Brown was have been a great musician but a complete failure in real life and it’s sad that he didn’t take the chance to lead a better life.

If people would quit supporting these people maybe that would hit home, don’t buy his records, see him perform, etc. but Americans don’t really seem to care do they. It is like oh well that doesn’t count.

Great post if only more people felt like you do
