Child Abductions In Indianapolis

A major concern in the city right now is an increase in child abductions and attempted abductions. Right now we have a man on the loose who has attempted to snatch 2 girls off their bus stop. The man was described by both girls with really close descriptions. Both girls fought hard to get away and both got away without being harmed. They were brave in that they went to their mothers who in turn called the police to report the crime. Everyone is on edge about our schools now, not just because of abductions but because of recent health issues such as meningitis and TB break outs in our schools. It seems going to school isn’t safe on any level. Now we’re worrying about sending our little girls on the bus stop basically in front of the house. I don’t know if there’s a person in this city so fed up with crime and so fed up with hearing how unsafe our children are on many levels.

How close to home are these abductions? Sunday afternoon I spoke with a friend who informed me that our mutual friend faced this issue on Friday. She was at a work, her son got home before her. There was a knock on the door. The child answered the door. A man stood there and said he knew that his Playstation had been stolen and he had one in the car. Did he want to come out to the car and get it? The boy said no, he’d have to ask his mother if he could have it. He closed the door. He called his mother and told her what happened. He’s safe but of course she, her family and her friends are rattled beyond belief. The man isn’t the same man who snatched one girl and attempted to snatch another because this man is white.

This family I speak of is a poor family living in the same neighborhood as the girls who now deal with what nearly happened to them. They have an immediate need. They need a new door on their trailer. The door they have now isn’t secure. I’ll make a request on IndyFreeCycle.com for a door for this family. The last thing anyone wants to think about what could have happened. The last thing she wants. The last thing her friends want is worry about anyone at all coming through a door that should have been replaced a very long time ago. We don’t want to deal with what might happen so this door needs to be replaced. This family needs to feel safe.

  • Weve been having a rash of events like this in my area as well. It is so very scary for both moms and kids.

  • UPDATE:
As of yesterday evening my friend has a new door. We’re all feeling a tad bit better about things. They haven’t caught the guy but at least her door isn’t the same flimsy thing it use to be. That scared the crap out of us.
