A Little Gift for Sparrows

Each month I Photobucketbuy myself something small. I usually get it from the dollar store or a garage sale. I don’t spend much on it but I want to be able to treat myself to something just for me. This month I found something I’ve wanted for a very long time. I got a water fountain/ bird feeder.

As you can see, she has bumps and dents but in my opinion it makes her even more beautiful. There are some, however, that I intend to mend especially the one at her feet. What’s on her shoulder in the photo you say? Well, I needed a good background for a leaf pendant I have up in my Etsy shop. So I put it on her shoulder and took the photo. That’s when I realized this isn’t just a great fixer-upper it’s a great piece for photography as well as other artwork.

…..rest assuredbird feeder/ water fountain, there will be artwork that comes from this $5 garage sale thingamabob.

I haven’t always been a bird feeder type. I like to watch them though. I’ve even gotten pretty good at distinguishing one call from another. Also, it brings me “happy clap” joy when the cardinal pair land on my fence or when a little hummingbird shows up at my window. These are wonderful additions to my day. I look forward to coffee and nature each morning.

In addition to my photos of the water fountain turned bird feeder I’d like to point you to a few poems about sparrows. Always Without Fail is my absolute favorite poem about sparrows. P. B. Sweeney also has a wonderful poem called Drinkers on her blog called Poems from the Edge of the Continent. Funny how one poem can touch a person’s heart and stay with them. I absolutely love the poetry and the inspiring way in which she writes. Perhaps this why her poetry stays with me.

I love your purchase - something for the sparrows indeed! And I love all her “imperfections” that make her uniquely herself. And I have to tell you, you are too good to me. Thank you so much for these kind words. Really - thank you. I’m grateful.

    Salaam,
    Patricia
