haha I'm not either! I could probably talk up a storm about this book right now lol!

Yeah, I did notice that. It's hard for me to get my head around the whole core(s) concept but then when they talked about her having 2...that somehow felt right to me (as I think for myself there is me and one who is "gone"). So now the part that's still hard for me is the concept of having a non-aware/functioning core. I'm always so insanely curious about how other multi's function especially when it's so different from the way I do.

The average experience...snore. They would have a tough time selling that maybe. She sounds like she's fairly normal outside of therapy, lil eccentric/quirky maybe more than some of us, but she had her thriving business etc. Ok, so she had her marriage problems... But yeah, I'd say she went through a hell of a lot and this is mainly focused on her therapy sessions and so yeah when you can find someone your comfortable letting it all out with it can seem freaky deeky. So I understand those people but that's what I have to say to them ha!

I agree about relating to her inner world and parts. It's amazing how different we can be and still have the same sort of worlds/parts/functions/etc. Blows my mind sometimes. I sometimes feel like "Wow, she's got one of those parts too. Huh? Maybe I'm not so weird. I mean, how could I have not read this or heard anyone else talk about something like this and still have "come up" with at age ___!" Like her Weaver, I have a some what similar part but I'm not sure if I've ever heard anyone else talk about a part like that so I felt a little less odd.

I was cracking up a bit ago about the dialogue between Mean Joe and LambChop. Mean Joe wanted her to pick a spelling for her name because it was confusing other wise and LambChop didn't want to. I almost died laughing, just nodding my head thinking "I've got those that do that too and it drives me bananas!"

I think I heard that years ago it was a TV movie? Don't think I want to see it at all. I'm kind of treating this book like a movie, constantly yelling at it (well in my head cause I share a house)! If I didn't short out the TV on the movie I think for sure I would end up beating the crap out of the set (because of her "parents").

Yeah, Paul (Mind Parts) suggested I not read it at night lol! So I'm trying my best and do my best to pace myself. I should probably switch to my art book and try to wind down for the night.

I've read the book. I don't have a copy of it anymore but yeah, Trudy Chase had that happen to her a lot. I think also Shirley Mason (Sybil) had this issue.

I've heard mixed reviews about the book from other multiples. They say it doesn't show the "average" experience of a multiple. It doesn't show us as functioning within society and in a family setting like we are fully capable of doing but instead seems to add to the idea that we're strange and freak show features.

I understand that is how some see the book but when I read it I was struck by how close it was to my experiences with abuse and with life as a multiple. The book shows so much detail about her inner world and depicts with great accuracy my concerns and nuances.

I'll tell you this much though, sure wish someone had suggested I not try to digest that book in a few sittings and that I let my therapist help me through it. When Rabbit Howls is far from light reading. I think it's worth it (when managed) but man was it hard.

You only asked about the book. You didn't ask for a review of When Rabbit Howls but hey, I'm no short winded girl.

Did you notice the book is written not by Trudy herself but by her alters called The Troop Formation?

Dang! Now I'm reading about it in "When Rabbit Howls". Have you read this? Anyone? I thought they said they'd get a little more into it at some point, maybe not though, would love to hear more. Someone really should do some experiments that would be fun, I'd help lol!
In the past I've definitely been aware of it with the fibro but there would be times (like lately) when I don't have many fibro symptoms or flare and there will be odd "happenings" anyway. I guess I'll have to pay attention more.

@ Anne,
I bet its because of the extra nerve activity. I never thought about it happening with Fibro but it makes sense. There's a heck of a lot of energy/electricity with the disorders previously mentioned. It makes sense that Fibro would fit right in there.
