It’s almost laughable, the gall of this woman. For those of you who know what this house looks like (I shared photos with a few) you know dang well there isn’t any more room for Fife’s daughter (now called Bratty Fife) to move in more of her stuff, yet she has. Now the fridge is totally blocked off and so is the dining room. All I can do is laugh. I think I’m in shock. This time she didn’t show up. She sent her husband who was surprisingly talkative and nice. Her brother Fife Junior (also known as Eye Candy) helped return the table Bratty Fife stole a few months back. They moved it back in and sat it in the middle of the floor along with the chairs. We are officially packed end to end.
I posted that she asked for her sewing machine back and wanted it to be given to her father who could keep it safe. The machine is currently on the floor with the cover off squeezed in front of the fridge which is as I said blocked by a very large and very heavy solid wood table. It took 2 men to move it and set it up. There’s no way Fife Senior and I can move that table alone. So the fridge is blocked until they come back and move the table.
Here’s the update on moving… I’ve been actively looking for a place to go. I looked into one promising place but was told by management that they have a bug problem. They said they’re attempting to get a handle on it but that’s not good enough for me. I’ve seen the apartment, took a tour and was impressed. The rent was good, the location just fine but I can’t do bugs. It’s too bad too cause that place was cute as all get out. I’m still looking though and haven’t given up.
One place I refuse to look is on Craigslist. I don’t trust the site at all so I don’t go there to look. There have been too many issues with safety so forget even going there I say. I have, however, been through the newspaper as well as housing provided at our government site and sites that offer low income housing. Since I don’t have children it’s difficult for me to get on state run section eight. I can get on rent that goes by a sliding scale though which is done through government grants but isn’t under state oversight. It’s important that I stick with sliding scale and not government housing because of quality, quantity and location. There are a bunch of these apartments all over the city. I just need to find them.
I won’t go back to government housing. I’ve been there once in my life and will not do it again. That’s out of the question, period. If I think it’s bad here all I have to do is think of the best day in government housing and know my worst day here is better than my best day there. It was horrible because of the residents as well as management. Won’t do it again. I’ll deal with Bratty Fife before I deal with a hundred or so crack heads and managers that look the other way as maintenance steels the residents blind or hooks up with one of them.
So anyway, that’s the update on gall and apartments. I’m still looking. Since there’s no room to move I need to seriously begin to hunt for even a used small fridge. Argh!!

I wonder why the dad puts up with the stuff his daughter does– better yet, why does he expect you to put up with it? I have been planing on moving since I moved here nearly nine years ago. I seem to lack motivation these days. And apparently a lot of days prior to these.
I hope you apartment search lands you a nice place soon. You sure don’t need the grief you get there.
Wow. Just wow.
I hear you on the bug issue. I rented a place one summer and the roaches were fearless. In some ways though I’d be impressed at a place that admitted they had a problem. Bet the rent there would be a sweet deal – course I’d have to absolutely know they had a handle on it, and see a contract that they had preventative measures in place.
I have threatened moving many times just not to him. I’ve threatened moving since I moved here but with the real threat of physical violence AND filth it really and truly is time for me to go. I’ve been actively looking for a place. I don’t need one that is perfect just one I can manage. I can’t manage roaches even with honesty. Mice for bugs isn’t a good trade. I don’t have major issues with spiders or beetles and such but roaches are a totally different animal. Those things I won’t live with by choice. :shutter:
I hope it doesn’t sound like I’m making excuses for why I haven’t moved or sound like I’m making it harder on myself to move by not seeking housing in specific places or from specific sites ie Craigslist. I just want to make sure I’m not going from the pan into the fire.
Our public housing/govt housing is full of violence, drugs and prostitution. It’s run down and slumlike. No matter what side of town it’s on those complexes are in the news. The one I moved from into here had fifty (50) drug and gun warrants served all at one time. They came in swat team style. It would be from the pan into the fire to go back to our govt housing system.
On the “good side of town” where there’s govt housing there have been 2 killings in the last week. The retaliation killing was done in front of children on the playground.
We aren’t Chicago or Detroit nor are we the Bronx but enough people die in our housing projects to make it unsafe to raise a family or live in peace even without a family.
I guess I just feel like I need to justify with clarification why I refuse to use Indiana’s government housing system ever again. I do not intend to go from bad to worse which is why I’m being extra careful about where I go.
Austin – loathes the pan but fears the fire
No justification needed.
If I ~had~ to deal with bugs, spiders would be my worst nightmare; then roaches; then mice. All are bad but spiders would cause instant death for me; roaches would cause nightmares; while mice would “just” cause me to move.
I hope you are able to find something soon.
So is Bratty Fife and hubby living there now, or just storing more stuff?
I don’t blame you for not wanting to live in government housing. I’ve heard so many horror stories about what goes on there, and your experiences confirm it.
Sounds like things are getting totally out of hand there, with Fife unable to say no to his princess, and things piling up to the point that you can’t get to the fridge. My goodness, what is wrong with these people?!
@ Beauty,
They’re storing more of their crap here “is all”.
I lived in govt housing one time, just once. I pray I am never forced to do that again.
@ Enola,
LOL
Hi,
It sounds as though you are making some good safety rules while trying to find a good and clean place to live. That is to be commended. It doesn’t say something bad about you to want a good place and one that you can afford.
Good luck in your search.
Kate
