I just have to wonder what others would do in this situation. Today at the second hand store the cashier pulled my change from the register then coughed. She put her hand up to her mouth with my dollar bills and hacked away. Without missing a beat she attempted to hand me the money. I had a choice, I could either take it and say nothing OR ask her for different bills and coins. When I told her I’d like her to replace the bills and coins she said, “Oh I don’t have anything. It’s just allergies.” Uh, huh. With that kind of hack H1N1 was the least of my worries. Besides, she had tremendous plaque build up which could be seen from the other side of the counter. No way in hell was I taking a chance on bringing home her lunch particles from six years ago. Sorry lady, I want new bills. Fortunately she wasn’t too offended and exchanged them without incident.
I then got on my way to Dollar Tree to purchase a few food items when yet another medical mishap took place. As I walked in the door a lady grabbed onto my arm and said she felt woozy. She asked me to look in her eyes and tell me if her left eye was turning inward. I told her no. She held onto me for a few more minutes. I thought to myself, don’t pass out. Don’t require CPR cause you don’t look healthy enough for me to give it to you. I grabbed my coffee creamer and came straight home.
It was so selfish of that woozy lady to involve me in her health crisis. I mean really, did she even stop to consider if I was in the mood to be helpful or was she too concerned about her damn self and her stupid floating left eye? Selfishness is exactly why the world is the way it is now.
Despite wanting to flee from both scenes, I held my composure and did my duty. I traded in the bills for cleaner ones and assisted the woman to a seat where she could get some real medical assistance. …. what I really wanted to do was pull my hair and run screaming.
I need some hand sanitizer just thinking about it all.

I’d have wanted to insist the bills be exchanged. But what I would have done is probably glared at her, said nothing, gingerly taken them and bathed in hand sanitizer.
Hi,
Well I think you were very brave in both incidents. I would have had a lot of trouble asking for other bills. I used to be a cashier and routinely would have customers cough right in front of me with their mouth wide open and act like nothing happened, during flu season. With the way my health is, I don’t feel like taking care of anyone else either, and you have that right and to expect others not to drag you into their germ factories. Good and healing thoughts to you.

I think I would have been unable to prevent myself from saying “UGGGGHH! GROSS, WTH!!” Yeah, I don’t care if you don’t think you have anything there is a damn incubation period HELLO!!
