My little vampire ran away. For two hours I had no idea where she was. I looked all over the place. I called her name, walked around but nothing. Gus went outside to use the restroom and Mary Jane rushed right out with him and was gone in a flash. I was both mad and sad but mostly sad cause my little person was gone all gone. About two hours later my door bell rang and a neighbor told me he’d found her wandering around. He said had she not had on tags he would have just chased her out of his yard. Thank goodness for tags.
Mary Jane’s tags have my name, my number and my long time email address on yahoo. On the back of the tags in small caps it says: I am loved. I’m so happy she was found but now I’m pissed at her for worrying me to death. She’s too pretty to be out there in the mud messing around.
A not so pretty situation was dropped in my lap today. See, I run sort of a foster kitten thing so when people have a kitten they don’t want to deal with or can’t deal with I take the little one in, get ‘em all fat and healthy then place them. The last kitty was Lilly. I have Mercy right now. Her story is pathetic and of course one that could have been avoided.
The little one shown here is a Persian mix at 4 weeks old. There’s no way on earth she should be away from her mother but her previous owner surrendered the mama cat as well as 4 unweened kittens. I shake my head in disgust when I think of it but I’m still glad she called me or the little one could have died. Others took the three kittens and the mama was taken too but no one wanted the little ugly black kitty. The lady called me to take her. She was in a little basket and hadn’t eaten yet or anything. No mother, no siblings, nothing. Now you know why I call her Mercy. She needed some very badly and needed to get out of the doomed situation she was in. That’s where I come in. I do fostering because I enjoy it but sometimes the stories break my heart. It’s sad and pathetic to simply surrender an entire litter and mother with no regard for their welfare. So, she’s here with me and her other two foster parents and is being taken care of until she’s old enough for a permanent home. Gus is doing his typical “super dad” thing and M.J. is doing her little game of “I object” only to go check on the kitten from time to time and lick her poor little head.
Oh yeah, if you look closely in the photo of M.J. you’ll see her vampire teeth. Despite how cute she is I’m still mad at her little furry self for running off. Bubble head!!!! Scaring me like that!!!
