Empty Tank

9:49 pm

Every last one of my fish are dead, every last one of them. The snails and the pleco are still alive but all the fish are dead. They died on my birthday. I wish it hadn’t happened today.

I’m going to tear the tank down, clean it really well then fill it again. I’ll let it cycle then start over. It’s sad. I liked them a lot.

I’ve slept most of the day away. I’ve been so exhausted for some reason.

The only thing I did differently was add a floating plant from a local, privately owned pet store. I took that plant from the smaller beta tank and let it float in the big tank. This is the only thing I did differently, now every fish I have is dead…. both tanks, all of them, dead. Grrrr!!!!!

It took me about 2 hours to drain the tank, tear it down, remove the rocks and clean the entire thing. I have yet to clean the 3 large rock sculptures or the filters but the big stuff has been cleaned. What I’ll have to do is get that stuff cleaned, add rocks, fill it and let it sit for a bit. With the entire tank torn down I can set up my under gravel filter which has been waiting to be set up for a bit now. So, that’s the update for the fish. (sigh)

  • So sorry to hear about your fish. I know how much joy they brought you.

  • I didn’t realize how quiet it was without the water fountain on.

After cleaning absolutely everything it’s all set back up, rocks and all. I filled it, treated the water and turned the fountain back on. It’s relaxing simply to hear the water trickle over rocks and fall into an empty tank. I can’t wait to put more fantails in there.
