Janie Girl

After three days of laying around doing very little I think my cat decided for me when it was time to get up. I was lying in bed when out of the blue the girl bit me, right on the arm she bit me. I offered no real emotion at all. I just looked at her and said, “Mary Jane, why did you bite me?” then I turned my head and went to sleep.

She’s never bitten me before or scratched me or anything so it surprises me that there was such a blatant chomp. Now that I’ve been up and around for a few days I laugh at her cause its almost like she was either testing to see if I was still alive or trying to see if  was tender. Maybe she was worried I’d be late with her warm plate of Salmon or that I’d forget to fill her hand tossed, ceramic bowl full of chilled water? When I pulled myself up for a nature call I made sure to clean her box and put out her personal tiny cat blanket. Maybe I didn’t leave enough room for her on my pillow or maybe I was snoring too loudly for her to rest properly. I don’t know. It’s a good thing fuzzy butt didn’t break the skin. It just shocks me is all.  The thing is, you can never tell with cats, even with a cat who thinks she’s a dog, you can never tell what they’re thinking. MJ doesn’t know she’s a cat. She comes when I call her. When I want to pick her up I pat the chair so she can jump on it. Then I pat my leg and she leans up on it so I can pick her up. She plays fetch. If I have to put her in the room for something there’s a good chance she’ll decide she doesn’t want to stay in there so she’ll manage to get that door open and come right back out. She hardly ever snacks like a cat. She’ll eat what I put in front of her. That’s the Rag Doll in her. Rag Doll cats eat a lot and are very food driven. MJ loves her food.

One of the other good things about MJ is that she puts up with strange kittens that come through here. She plays with them and from time to time smacks them around but for the most part she plays Mama to them. I got a winner when I got her 3 years ago. She’s quirky, smart, agreeable and very special to me.

My week has started all over again and is full of doctor appointments. I look forward to returning home to my girl who will surely offer some reason to giggle. Perhaps when it comes time for evening her catnip fix I’ll get to take a photo of her spread eagle on the floor feeling no pain at all. The compromising photo will be my revenge for her chomping me the other day.
