A friend of mine unloaded 10 small tins of quality bulk tea on me the other day. I love tea, especially red leaf and green teas. As a matter of fact, my doctor asked me to increase green tea intake so this goes right along with doctor’s orders.
Sometimes I purchase tea thinking it sounds good but then I get it home and it’s nasty as all get out so I unload it on some unsuspecting soul, which is how I inherited the teas in the photo. She bought it, didn’t like it then gave them to me. If I don’t like what I purchased I mail individual tea bags to people with a quick note saying, taste this, tell me what you think. I do it with the good stuff too but its more fun for me when I mail out the unsavory leaves. It’s a good thing my friends are used to me doing that to them.
I got a call from Oregon yesterday concerning some nasty tea I sent. I sent her SEVERAL packages of Vanilla Chai that I will never, ever drink because I don’t like vanilla in my tea. It seems she wasn’t disgusted like I was. I like Chai its just when you start adding vanilla extract and stuff like that its not for me. Gross tea becomes a reason for me to be mischievous. It lets me spend about 70 cents mailing it to a friend with a quick note daring them to try it.
About the good stuff…. what I was gifted recently is really good tea. I didn’t want to destroy the natural oils or damage the tea in any way so I looked up the proper temperature and steeping times as well as what if any sweetener is recommended. I even got a short history lesson on each leaf which I enjoyed thoroughly.
I have tea time around 8pm every evening, now I’ve got 10 new teas to enjoy.
