A side salad and a window seat

I’m more than half way unpacked. While unpacking I haven’t stopped to cook a meal or anything, I’ve just eaten sandwiches and salads. The other night as I sat on the futon and picked out Chinese crunchy noodles, I was reminded of all those nostalgic times with an old girlfriend I used to traveled with. Sometimes we only traveled across town, but across town there’s a really wonderful hotel that serves free cocktails every Thursday evening. She and I checked in Wednesday, closed the curtains to shut the world out then we’d chat until all hours of the evening. We’d sing show tunes in the hot tub, dance in the room and sit down to a candle lit microwave meal and a side salad. Once Thursday evening hit it was Cosmopolitan time for me and several Tom Collins for her. After free booze it was back upstairs for more girl time. We had a blast doing that. For most of nine years she and I found a way to have mini vacations like this.  Expensive? Yes, but well worth the bonding time.

New Things

It’s quiet here… uber quiet, which isn’t a complaint, just an observation. People come and go during the day but by about 8pm the place is deserted, not a soul in sight. It’s quiet here. I like that.

I’ve slept quite well. My bed is no longer on the floor so that helps quite a bit. It’s a lot more comfortable now. All the fish, plants, tanks and dolls made it without getting broken. There’s a smaller size terrarium that I can’t find but it’s entirely possible that it got put in a box someplace. Even if it’s back at Senior’s house it won’t matter. We somehow moved all those tanks, the fish, the frog and porcelain dolls without breaking them. My two person moving crew rocked!!! My little one Amy was literally in tears of relief and joy because the big tank made it. It was a huge, huge relief!!!!

My last day here is soon

This is wrapping up very quickly. I’d planned on being here most of the month so that  I could take more time to pack but things didn’t’ work out that way. This cute little place showed up and I jumped on it. I’m happy I did to. I only have 35 neighbors in my apartment complex. That’s it, thirty five of us, no kids. I like that. It’s rather gay friendly too. I like that as well.

I’m going to finish up packing this evening and a few friends will come over and assist with the final move. The bad news is that I won’t have internet access for quite some time. I’ll have to find a library and see if I can get some net time. I hate that. No internet sucks big time!!!!! I’ll deal with that later though. It’ll happen.

Apartment: Stuff I looked for

I didn’t just want something cute, I wanted something clean, quiet and some place I can stay for a good long time. I like the location, and the apartment itself is within my budget, but I still had questions. There were things I needed to look for and verify so that I could stay long term. After going through my own checklist of things I took one final step. I looked to see if anyone in my building is a registered sex offender. A great building with a rat in it is still a rat house. None of my immediate neighbors are rats.

Approved for an Apartment

An update is provided at the end of this entry.

I’ve been packing while looking for an apartment. Today one came in…. but…. I now need to ask for assistance with the security deposit which I need to pay on the 3rd of July. My move date is the third.

Yup, I’m going here. Hate to, but I am. I kinda need some help. If by any chance you can help with any amount of the  security deposit for my brand spanking new one bedroom apartment (which I will move to on the third) that would be a wonderful thing. Or, feel free to purchase a bit of artwork that is set to moving sale prices.

Mudpuddles

For me the rain is dreary for Lea its time to play and splash about.

The water is receading quickly, which is a shock to me, it usually stays for day. It’s about half where it was just a few short hours ago. I figure Lea had her fun but then it was time for a nice soapy bath and a nap. She’s wrapped in her blanket and tucked in her crate snoring her little heart out. She’s my favorite little wet rat.

It’s a Nissan, not and arc

The water in my yard is so high that is reaches half the tire and nearly the top of two five gallon buckets sitting under my garden table. A few more minutes of rainfall and it’ll reach the bumper as well as the seat on the picnic table.
