Not Today

I’m not supposed to be sad today. It’s Independence Day. Today is my day, I’m not supposed to feel this way today.

Why does it matter so much to me that people actually acknowledge my existence? Why does it matter so much to me that Junior thinks I look like a boy? Why does he think it’s okay to dismiss me and not even look at me because he thinks I look like ‘butch’. Why is it okay to dismiss someone when they don’t look the way you want them to? ITS MY HAIR, why do I need someone elses approval?

A Strong Woman – Naonka Mixon

To Naonka Mixon of Survivor 21

I’ll start off by saying I don’t care that you quit the game of Survivor. I mean really, what one endures out there can’t be understood by viewers, so I have no issue with you saying it was too much. What has prompted this entry is your exit speech on being a “strong black woman” from a line of strong black women. I don’t know about the rest of your family, but from what I saw of your behavior I am left to believe you have no idea what it means to be a strong woman.

Stolen Art Work

You know what gets me? I’ve written this profanity filled rant/rave before, but it seems its time for it again. I hate it when people steal copyrighted artwork then post it on their website. It gets me, it really does. Copyright theft isn’t a victimless crime. Even if you don’t think anyone knows so no one is getting hurt, you’re wrong.

If it’s not bad enough that people take my regular artwork, they’ve decided to add insult to injury and take my copyrighted art therapy work.  I’m thrown at the unscrupulous nature of people who click on a website and walk away with shit that doesn’t belong to them. Think of websites like this okay, think of them as a museum. You go in, you look around AND YOU LEAVE THE SHIT THERE!!! If you go to a gallery you can’t take stuff home unless you  go to the gift shop and pay for it. That’s what art sites are, they’re online galleries, an online museum of sorts. If you walk into a museum and take something  it’s called stealing. It’s the same with online art and even blog entries. You can’t just walk away with shit cause you want to.

Please Return to the Trailer Park Immediately

I think people should have to carry a license that certifies them as capable of 1) properly raising a child and 2) raising said child along side other families. If people aren’t capable of doing that they should be sterilized, yes, I said sterilized because that way I don’t have to go outside and interrupt their Jerry Springer-like lives just to get my neighborhood back on track. This is in fact my neighborhood. It’s MY STREET. Austin Street, and all the kids know it. I’ve already told them not to act crazy on my corner. I don’t have issues with anyone in my neighborhood and the kids are quite respectful to me… cause it’s my street!

Our Arguments are Always the Same

We never argue about anything new in this house, it’s the same two arguments every time. We argue about housekeeping and utilities. These are standard for me and Senior but Junior and I have a different issue. Junior isn’t approachable. I never know how he’s going to respond to a question or statement so when I talk to him I stumble over my words and become forgetful.

Money, Sex and Desperation

This may sound as if I’m completely out of my mind but I’m writing this as an example of how someone pushed by financial strain can begin to re-think what they would or wouldn’t do for money. What I’m going to say may shock some, others may be able to relate. All that is to say, what you may read here is something you may not have ever thought you’d hear me say but rest assured, it’s something I never really thought I’d seriously consider.

That’s What They All Say

Today the  doctor said she needed to schedule a pelvic exam for me. I respectfully declined to which she replied, “I don’t want you to do anything you don’t want to do.”     LIAR!!!  Yes you do!!!!

I hear that sentence and want to throw things. People say it innocently enough, hell my therapist has said it. They say it to instill confidence and trust, but when I hear it I pull back and become defensive. Here’s the thing, my mother and cousin said the same thing yet there I was doing things I didn’t want to do under the pretense of consensual activities. After all, if I didn’t want to then we wouldn’t be in that situation, therefore I have nothing to complain about. Heck, they gave me a way out, gave me a way to say no so why am I complaining about being afraid?
