Stuff In My Yard - Toys and Bugs

Dragon Fly - Fire Fly What have you

This little guy was on my screen door. He let me take his picture then flew off. Quite a beauty I thought. Nice wing spread and great patience for the fumbling photographer. I don’t know if he’s a Fire Fly or a Dragon Fly or what. I think he’s beautiful though. Thank God he didn’t fly off the screen into my hair and cause me to run screaming like a girl. Oh wait, I am a girl. Still, you see my point. It would have been really an ugly moment. Ugly like the day I stood on the chair screaming because there was a mouse in my living room. I seriously considered calling 911 but thought better of it. Bella, the huntress, abandoned me that day. I guess she thought it was nap time so she left me with Gracie, the non-huntress. So there I was on the chair with a mouse in the house. What option did I have but to call 911 or stay stranded on the chair? Actually, Grace rose to the occasion and killed the mouse. I was stunned. I was still on the chair for awhile because ya know the little bugger could have been faking his untimely death. Finally my roommate got home. I called him back, still standing on the chair, and had him remove the carcass. I came down from the chair and said, “We must never speak of this again.”

Okay, on to a more pleasant subject. Here are some of Cappy Crunch’s toys in the yard.

Captain's toys

And yes, he even has a little sailor duck that squeaks. Unfortunetly this photo is a bit out of focus but I had nothing else to blog about so I’m tossing y’all crumbs….blurry little crumbs.

For other stuff in my yard click here. They’re mostly bug photos, cicadas and spiders and spider webs and a brown manid. Click only if you have mad love for bugs.

Everything

I really have been out of touch. I haven’t even blogged in several days.
I don’t know, I’m so shut down right now. For a day or two I felt pretty good then got smacked really hard with some flashbacks. I think I’m right back where I started the other day with the whole withdrawing from everyone and everything.

Upside Down Kats

A few new things - I’ve been getting postcard orders filled too. It paid off to show a few postcards to the people at the dental office the other day. One lady purchased 100 of them for retail purposes. I got invited to be a vendor at a Breast Cancer Awareness art show in Ohio.

My car is running, for how long I don’t know. I have to wait until the 3rd to insure it which means I won’t be driving it until then.

My neighbor made it out of his brain surgery well. I’ve been dashing over there to care for him and his three pooches. I’ll do that for the next 4 weeks. Grace turned 4 April 1st, Bella turned 2 on the 28th and Captain is working on not making it to 9. He keeps jumping the fence and running across the street to play with his buddies. These are the three pooches that I’m helping out with.

I was on the floor when I took this picture which is why they’re at this angle. A photo of them together doesn’t happen often.

That’s all for now.

Off the Mark

I usually handle the physical pain pretty well but right now I’m an irritable, angry mess. Add in therapy issues and poor sleep and you’ve got yourself one galactic bitch.

I’ve described chronic pain as a pair of glasses made for someone else that I’m forced to wear. I put them on and I’m to adjust my life to someone else’s eyes, a totally different depth of field and understanding of sight in general. I can’t see anything without it filtering first through those glasses. I can’t think straight in this kind of pain. Usually I do okay wearing someone else’s glasses, with my sight off the usual mark. But sometimes my vision is too distorted. My ability to function fails. My responsibilities fall to the way side and all I can do is wait for it to ease up. Usually I handle it pretty well. I go about my day, get stuff done and don’t complain outwardly. But add lack of sleep and therapy issues and I’m just pissed!!! I’m pissed, depressed and physically exhausted. That’s all I have to say about that.

My neighbor is having brain surgery. I’ll be taking care of his dogs while he’s gone. Three dogs, my dog and two cats and a bunch of me….this should be fun. Truthfully, I feel honored that he’d trust me in his home while he’s not there. He loves those dogs (he gives them beer but he loves them) and wouldn’t leave them with just anyone. They’re sweet. I enjoy my time over there. All I have to do is go over and let them out for a bit, fill their water bowl and feed them, that’s all. With my energy level the way it is it feels like a lot but really, I’m happy to do it. I know I just complained about pain and energy and everything but when someone trusts me with something precious I can’t help but accept the joy that comes with it. My twisted glasses do at least let me see that much.

Leave My Duck Alone

Grace and PEZ the Duck

Dear Gracie,

You are in violation of your lease. All renters are strictly prohibited from sleeping with any little ducks. Please refer to page 52 of your rental agreement concerning the “No Ducks” policy. The “No Ducks” section is kitty-corner from the sections that discuss allowed frequency of hairballs, prohibition from sneezing on me and the section concerning not pawing at my eyeballs while I’m in REM cycle. If you scan down to paragraph 6 in the “No Ducks” section you’ll see clearly that you’ve violated your lease. This is your second violation concerning said duck. Page 85 of your rental agreement discusses the consequences of having two strikes against your lease. So that you can continue to rent from Austin Housing Inc please make sure 1) your rent is on time and in full and 2) that you keep your paws off all little ducks.

Sincerely,
Your landlord
Austin

More Cats In Dreams

Maybe 7 or so people were in a car parked outside a mall ready to go in to see a boxing match. One person was hungry so instead of going in the mall they pulled off and went to a different mall to get something to eat. A few people went in and came out with the head and shoulders of baby tiger cubs on their plates. The skin hadn’t been removed. You could still see the eyes and the fur. Some of the baby cats in the dream were deformed but people still ate them. It was head and shoulders, and a little bit of belly which is where the fork stuck straight up from. One person after another came out of the mall with a baby tiger on their plate in this fashion. I asked what the hell was wrong with them. They said it’s a delicacy. I said not in Indiana it’s not. They asked if I wanted to go get one. I was appalled.

Just before going in to see the movie we were all asked to turn off our cell phones.

Poetic Accomplishments

Multi grain nut bread rising – one loaf
Rag doll stained for that antique look accomplished in just a few dips.
Two emails out to one major dip.

White toast I munched then swept the crumbs away
To a bag overflowing since yesterday.
Data transferred, saved and filed.
Lighter flicked, candles lit.
Litter box cleaned and sweeper run.
One more smile before my day is done.

Sipping soup from a mug the size of Texas I watch my girls
All fuzzy and content with catnip satisfaction.
In the softest spot by the window sill they settle to
Steal a moment for one more purr, one more doze before the close of the afternoon sun.

In a back yard in the suburbs small
A large black dog he goes a charge after a rollie ball in chaotic bounce.
Slobbering, prancing he never suspects
A bath is sure to follow when one rolls in winter’s remnants.
What sweet joy in one day’s results of chomping, dipping, charging and sewing
Playing, chatting, resolving and growing.

——-

So that’s what I’ve done today. I’ll return comments either later today or tomorrow afternoon. There’s a lot more I have to say on being strong. But for now I’d rather go smell some multi-grain nut bread and sip decaf coffee.

Snake Dreams

In this dream about Blossom she came into the room while I was sleeping. She leaned over me. I could feel her hair over my face. I turned around and she kind of fell into me. Without even looking up she said to me, “Do you plan on hurting me?” I didn’t respond. She kept doing what she was doing then repeated it. “Do you plan on hurting me?” I said, “Yes.” She got up to leave and said, “You can’t have me then.” I rolled over and went back to sleep. After I woke up I went out into the living room. The phone rang. It was a friend with whom I’d spoken of recent conversations with Blossom. We talked a bit. As we talked I looked across the street at the golf course to find that it was like dirty marsh waters. I saw a huge, had to be female, anaconda swimming in the waters. She didn’t really care about me as prey she wanted the cat who had run out of the door. I got Gracie back in the house before the snake got across the street. As Grace came to me she had to pass over a small puddle in the yard where there was a huge crocodile. She managed to get past the crock and in the house. The dream ended there.

Black Dog Black Shoes Old Bench

Captain Crunch lounging

How safe are these shoes next to a dog this size? They’re safe. I haven’t lost as much as a belt with Captain Crunch. The bench has been victim to cats for the last 2 years though. With cat scratches and dog slobber it can’t be saved. At least they only scratch that. Heck, I got it out of the trash to make into a small table next to the loveseat. The cats took to it and made it their scratch post. As long as they leave the rest of the furniture alone, which they do, I figure it’s okay. I think Cap believes the little bench is an extension of the loveseat. I don’t know.

Water and Fire - A Dream

I had a dream that I was on a date with some chick that looked like she was from a Latin country. We stopped at a little convenient store then tried to go back to my house but on the way there was a flash flood. The flash flood started then stopped just as quickly as it started but it left a heck of a lot of mud. We walked along the sidewalk to avoid the mud but we kept falling off the sidewalk, down the hill. I’d get back up or she’d get back up, get on track only to fall off again. By the time we got back to my house our shoes (black high top converse specifically) were heavy with mud. There was at least 2 pounds of mud on each shoe which made it difficult to walk. We reached my home and decided to go in by the basement so as not to mess up the carpet upstairs but when we got there the basement didn’t exist so we had to use the front door. We tracked mud everywhere.
