The Eleventh Hour

I tried in a very nonchalant way to direct all payments of art to my PayPal account because I was losing my Etsy shop. It was going to be suspended on the 21st because I wasn’t able to pay them $8 in fees to keep that shop open. In one way I thought it would be okay because I’ve been thinking for a very long time that I need to simplify matters and bring all sales here to Sundrip through PayPal. Even though that is my goal, this very moment is not the time for that.

I sent out a quick email to several people I know on Etsy explaining that as if the 21st I’d offer originals on Sundrip only. I explained that despite it not being under my control to solely offer paintings Sundrip, that I’d grow from the suspension and subsequent closure of my shop. The suspension and closed Etsy shop would force my hand to do what I’d been saying I want to do. Well, in a 11th hour turn around, I made a sale of 3 paintings and a doll. It’s more than enough to keep the Etsy shop open and gives me time for a smoother transition to using Sundrip to a fuller degree. I’m amazed, exhausted and grateful for the 11th hour grace.

At this time you may still purchase original work from either Etsy or the Sundrip website.

With gratitude,
Faith

Art Progress on “Twelve”

Progress on this piece is coming along nicely.

The original remains untouched. A copy in my sketchbook was to be a study for a painting in oil but I don’t think I’m going to do that. I like the two pieces and will not do another.

Twelve Progress Pencil

What started out as black and white ended up nearly a completely different piece. I’m blown away by how different they are, especially since I wanted to stay so close to the original.

The gallery below shows the progress in succession.

“Twelve” will be completed soon.

Strawberry Kisses. Painting with Food

Strawberry Kisses
Strawberry Kisses

After lightly spraying the surface of the paper, I laid on top two bags of Sweet and Spicy Tea. I then added blackberries and blueberries so that they could leave their mark on the surface. I allowed it to dry then added white watercolor paint to the surface. Small details were added such as the single bloom yellow flower and the small metallic dots below the fringe of her white, sketched shawl.

The Master of My Ghosts

There’s an old, half blind dog lying on the porch. That old dog is me.
.

His daytime howl is common, almost a fixture in his home. He growls at shadows and charges falling, dry leaves as though they were a personal attack on himself and the dilapidated house he protects.

He can hardly see. He doesn’t hear clearly or process like others. This old dog with half an ear and legs born lame, feels so far removed from a living thing that even the softest touch can in an instant turn from intimacy to biting distrust.
